Education is the best way to change the life of the poor. In reality, many children have little opportunity to go to school and escape from poverty. To solve this problem, OBOS supports local communities so that they can improve their educational environment, have more teachers trained and respect the right to education for everyone.

Poverty means in a sense that people cannot harvest crops as much as they need for a living nor have an adequate income. In this regard, OBOS helps those in poverty make a living on their own by providing them with financial support and various training so that they can have more means to make a better future with enough food and income.

People in poverty are easily exposed to preventable and treatable diseases with limited access to health and medical care service. Under these circumstances, OBOS supports a variety of projects that organize health care training and improve medical care service for the poor and vulnerable.

Focuses and Priorities of the OBOS Project

  • ① Within the framework of a long-term program for self-reliant and sustainable development of local people, OBOS focuses on projects in which it could play a cooperative role as a partner based on Catholic Social Teaching, global solidarity, Istanbul Principles for CSO Development Effectiveness, and Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA), avoiding simple financial assistance.
  • ② OBOS gives priority to projects that support local efforts to drive positive social change; help local people build their own capacity and ownership; promote sustainable development and human rights of the most vulnerable people; increase gender and environmental sensitivity; and that contribute to the achievement of SDGs(Sustainable Development Goals).
